Our inspiration for creating Viva came from a noticeable shift in how social media feels today compared to just a few years ago. Around 2016, platforms felt creative, expressive, and genuinely fun. People posted without overthinking, trends lasted longer, and the experience felt more personal and less overwhelming. Social media wasn’t something you had to “keep up with” — it was something you enjoyed being part of. Today, that feeling has changed. We’re seeing a rise in digital burnout, where endless scrolling and fast-paced content leave users feeling drained instead of entertained. Content has also become increasingly filtered, performative, and often dominated by negativity or divisive topics. At the same time, trends move so quickly that users barely have time to engage with them before they disappear. This created a gap — not just in functionality, but in emotion. We realized that people aren’t just looking for better features; they’re looking for a return to how social media used to feel. That insight became the foundation of Viva. Viva is inspired by the idea of a “digital time capsule” — a platform that captures the energy of the past and reimagines it for today. The neon-inspired, dream-like aesthetic reflects that sense of nostalgia, while the app’s core features are designed to slow things down, reduce noise, and make the experience feel enjoyable again. Ultimately, we were inspired by a simple question: What if social media didn’t exhaust you — but instead felt like an escape again? That’s the experience Viva is built to bring back.
