Choosing what to eat is often difficult when people cannot easily understand what is actually on their plate. Nutrition information is usually scattered, complicated, or requires manual food logging.
We built VitaVue to make nutrition analysis simpler: take a picture of your meal and let AI turn that visual information into understandable nutritional insights.
What it does
VitaVue is a multimodal AI nutrition application that analyzes food images and provides an intelligent nutritional breakdown. It is designed to make food understanding faster and more accessible without requiring users to manually enter every ingredient.
The core experience is simple:
Capture or upload food → AI analyzes the meal → VitaVue presents nutritional insights.
How we built it
VitaVue was developed with AI-assisted development and multimodal AI capabilities. We used iterative prompting to design features, generate and refine implementation, troubleshoot issues, and improve the application's user experience.
We focused on structured AI instructions so that food-image analysis produces useful, readable nutritional information rather than an unstructured response.
What we learned
Building VitaVue taught us how to combine multimodal AI with a practical consumer application. We learned that good AI results depend not only on the model, but also on how clearly the task, expected output, constraints, and context are communicated through prompts.
Challenges
One of the main challenges was making AI-generated nutritional analysis understandable and consistent for ordinary users. We iteratively refined prompts and the application flow to improve the quality and presentation of the results.
VitaVue demonstrates how effective prompting and multimodal AI can turn a simple food image into useful nutrition intelligence.spiration
