Inspiration

The inspiration for my project comes from a combination of the Pomodoro Technique and task prioritization methods. These methods are good for time management, but do not include people’s physical capacity or energy level. So, I created VitalSync to calculate one’s energy level and determine what tasks they can and cannot do.

What it does

VitalSync uses the user's age, hours of sleep over the past day, water intake, and circadian rhythm to estimate an energy capacity percentage. It then categorizes tasks by estimated energy consumption and compares them to the user's current energy level. Then based on these estimates, VitalSync determines if the user has enough energy to complete the assignment. It also recommends which tasks should be completed and postponed based until the user has more energy

How we built it

Using Python modules like ‘import time’ and the creation of my own module ‘applicate.py’. Applicate.py contains formulas for energy levels for various age groups since circadian rhythm differs across age groups. Using the time function to get the local hour, I was able to track the circadian rhythm without asking the user for the time. ‘runner.py’ is where the user inputs their age, hours of sleep and water intake for applicate.py to calculate them. Additionally, the ‘Applicate.py’ estimates the average energy consumption for each assignment and ‘runner’ has the user input the assignment names and outputs the result.

Challenges we ran into

  • Determining weight of tasks -Choosing factors that affect energy -Sorting tasks based on consumption percentage

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • The use of circadian rhythm
  • Use of functions and classes imported in my code -Creating Tkinter format within the 7 day extension

What we learned

-Various factors contribute to energy consumption

  • How circadian rhythm affects daily productivity.
  • How to use multiple files for a python project.

What's next for VitalSync

-Use machine learning/AI to automatically and more accurately weight assignments.
