VitalSync is an AI-driven intervention that bridges critical gaps in India’s healthcare system. From identifying symptoms in emergencies to helping people scan their medicines, it brings preventive intelligence directly into the hands of patients.


🧠 How VitalSync Works

1. AI Symptom Checker + Emergency Response

When a user types their symptoms (like “chest pain” or “dizziness”), the system uses GPT-4o (OpenRouter) to analyze their condition.

  • If severe symptoms are detected, the app immediately checks their location (GPS on mobile or manual input on desktop).
  • Then, it uses the Overpass API and a distance calculator (Haversine Formula) to find and show the 10 nearest hospitals within 50 km.
  • Alongside, the AI also gives 4–5 first-aid suggestions and encourages professional consultation.

2. Medicine Safety Scanner

Users upload or scan a photo of a medicine strip or bottle.

  • The system uses Tesseract.js to extract the text from the image.
  • That raw text is processed by GPT-3.5 (via OpenRouter) to extract key details like:

    • Name of medicine
    • Type and dosage
    • Side effects and warnings
  • Finally, the user sees all these details in a clear, interactive format — preventing accidental misuse of medicines.

3. Disease Encyclopedia

Users can search from a list of diseases (e.g., Cold, Dengue, Migraine).

  • Each entry shows:

    • Severity level (Mild/Moderate/Serious)
    • Color-coded risk
    • Symptoms and progression timeline
    • Safety advice like when to see a doctor
  • Built using MongoDB, Express, and React, the encyclopedia provides health awareness in an intuitive UI that works smoothly on both desktop and mobile.
