Inspiration
We realized that nutrition is a big public health problem, and figuring out which specific categories of food you need more in is difficult and time-consuming. We also knew that some foods have a much larger impact on the environment than others and that changing your diet could not only help yourself but also the environment. So, we combined all of this into our simple and easy-to-use website, Vitality Royale.
What it does
The first thing you are prompted to do is enter all of the primary foods you have eaten over the past 3 days. Then, it takes you to a page that gives you a breakdown of what vitamins and other important nutrients you’re getting enough of, and which ones you need more of. It also tells you how you can change your diet to be more environmentally friendly.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
Challenges we ran into
The most challenging part of our project was deciding how to organize the program. We had to have a lot of different foods, each with its own nutrition and environmental information. It was difficult to find a good way to store and format this information.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the search function on our website. It was something that we had never done before, but it turned out well.
What we learned
How to make a search bar and algorithm that displays top results and live edit search autofill.
What's next for Vitality Royale
More recommendations, more information, more environmentalism.
