Inspiration

Many people have been struggling with unprecedented circumstances because of the ongoing pandemic. It is more important than ever to be cognizant of our mental health. This is where mood tracking comes in. According to Psychology Today, a mood is a general feeling or long-term emotions that can last for hours or even days.

** The Name and The Concept ** The word vitality refers to the power giving continuance of life, present in all living things. As the saying goes: I feel, therefore I am. Vitality allows users to plant flowers to remind users that regardless of what they are feeling, it is all part of the beauty of life.

Mood tracking is good for identifying highs and lows. Tracking moods everyday can help identify patterns of variation.

What it does

  • Users can select their dominant mood for the day.
  • User interact with Vitality to plant a seed in the evening.
  • A flower that represents the user's mood will grow in the user's flower patch overnight.
  • A user's flower patch will contain the flowers planted in the last 30 days.

How we built it

  • Implementation is still in progress. Although the layout is in mobile app format, Vitality would ideally be a website to maximize availability to users of all types of devices.
  • React was used to build this web app.

Challenges we ran into

Having only 24 hours to complete this project was a huge block. I spent most of my time polishing my mock up and was barely able to start on the implementation before time was up.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Using Figma to create a full prototype.

What we learned

  • I learned a lot of theory behind moods and emotions while researching an idea for my project.
  • I learned how to use Figma for prototyping.

What's next for Vitality

  • Creating a finalized MVP matching the mockup functionality.
  • Hosting this application so it is accessibly via mobile web.
  • Expanding design and implementation to support desktop.
