Inspiration

We were inspired by the 90s tamagotchi digital pet.

What it does

It is a fitness tracker that removes the ability to see data entirely in order to focus on things that can actually benefit you. Instead of being too focused on the steps you've walked today, vitagotchi will simply remind you to go on a quick walk or stretch if it has sensed a lack of movement in a while.

How we built it

There were two main components, the vitagotchi and the watch that contains all of the sensors that calculate things like bpm or steps taken.

Challenges we ran into

Once we put the hardware inside the stuffed animal, the ground and voltage wires accidentally touched, killing the esp. So, we quickly changed to entirely virtual vitagotchi since there was no time to replace the esp.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Although our physical buddy did not survive, we were glad that at least his face and text showed up before we put him in his stuffed animal so our hardware worked well.

What we learned

We learned how to solder and CAD.

What's next for VitaGotchi

Implement a fully functional physical buddy and make the watch less bulky.
