Inspiration

Thinking about a perfect virtual world led us directly to the medical field where there are a lot of problems to be solved. In addition to that, a real story that happened with one of our team members was another factor in considering so, so why not start with your own world's perfection?

What it does

Vita aims to make the patient's medical history access by hospitals fast and easy, especially in emergency situations. On emergency case arrival, the medical staff uses the VitaFinger hardware device to get the fingerprint of the patient. The scanner gets sent to our web application where the patient is identified leading their medical history to be loaded into the web app from the Blockchain network.

How we built it

We built our platform using various technologies ranging from Blockchain to AI, and from Bluetooth technology to Embedded Systems, in addition to web technologies of course.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges were almost all about making blockchain smart contracts secure enough against possible attacks. Another challenge was about finding a good dataset that can be used to train an AI model to be used in a critical field like hospitality, the dataset had to be representative enough for the population.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The accomplishment that we are most proud of is working on a project where different abstraction layers of computing have been treated starting from the very low-level analog circuits to high-end neural networks, passing by intermediate layers like blockchain system design.

What we learned

Our project was so vast that it required a team that masters a wide range of fields in Computer Science. So, almost all of us had to work on the assigned tasks alone and keep a very organized communication strategy to stay tuned about the progress of each other.

What's next for Vita

The next perspective for Vita is to become the standard medical history access platform in Algeria. We will be also working on integrating more AI models to solve other problems in the medical process workflow.
