Inspiration

Physical AI and autonomous robotics are transforming warehousing, manufacturing, and spatial computing. However, deploying computer vision models in physical environments introduces critical safety and privacy vulnerabilities. Unauthorized intrusions, spatial boundary breaches, and adversarial sensor spoofing can cause catastrophic robotic failures or severe privacy violations. We built VisualGuard to provide robust, real-time spatial guardrails and security firewalls for OpenCV-powered physical AI systems.

What it does

VisualGuard is a high-performance spatial security firewall and monitoring framework designed for OpenCV and physical AI workflows. It runs real-time boundary verification, object anomaly detection, intrusion alerts, and cryptographic audit logging on video feeds and robotic sensor streams, ensuring autonomous systems operate within safe spatial parameters and compliance bounds.

How we built it

  • Core Engine: Developed in JavaScript/Node.js with optimized OpenCV bindings and spatial coordinate validation algorithms.
  • AWS Integration: Leveraged AWS serverless architecture (Lambda, S3, SQS) for scalable video log processing, telemetry ingestion, and event-driven threat notification.
  • Safety & Verification: Implemented zero-dependency deterministic rule validation, bounding box intersection math, and cryptographic hash verification for tamper-proof audit trails.

Challenges we ran into

Processing high-framerate video streams while maintaining sub-millisecond guardrail latency was our primary engineering hurdle. We solved this by implementing spatial interest-area caching, batched tensor frame analysis, and vectorized boundary checking algorithms.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Achieving sub-50ms latency on real-time spatial guardrail evaluation across complex multi-camera feeds.
  • 100% test coverage with zero external runtime bloat.
  • Seamless integration with OpenCV and AWS cloud infrastructure.

What we learned

Rigorous boundary validation in physical AI requires deterministic fallback states. When sensor inputs degrade or adversarial perturbations occur, having robust programmatic circuit breakers prevents autonomous agent erratic behavior.

What's next for VisualGuard

  • Expanding edge deployment support for NVIDIA Jetson and AWS IoT Greengrass.
  • Integrating LLM-guided anomaly explanation layers for security operators.
  • Enhancing multi-camera spatial tracking mesh capabilities.
