Inspiration

  • Our website was inspired by the need to bring families together by reminiscing on beloved individuals from the past that have a special place in ones heart and soul.

What it does

  • VRS aims to restore imagery that is near and dear to one's heart. Aged and gritty pictures of elder relatives and loved ones can now be virtually enhanced using our website. No more pixelated, low quality images of friends and family from years ago.

How we built it

  • Our User Interface (UI) was built, developed, and designed using the application called Bootstrap. Bootstrap is a paid applicaton that allows full design of a website with many capabilities that made this idea into reality. The algorithm was developed using Matlab which is capable of seeking out any imperfections in a photo, called "noise," and replaces any distorted pixels and matches it with the surrounding colors.

Challenges we ran into

  • Some team members had absolutely no prior experience with the programs used to develop our website, while others only had experienced using programs such as MatLab. The learning curve was very large but not impossible to overcome.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • The VRS team was able to successfully integrate a photo correcting system that fixes any issues such as blurriness and pixilation. The functionality was what really surprised us but we are proud of what we have accomplished.

What we learned

  • Many of us learned to pick up languages such as html, css, and matlab with little to no prior experience.
