Inspiration
We wanted to make learning complex topics intuitive and engaging. Traditional notes and textbooks can feel linear and overwhelming, so we imagined exploring knowledge like a galaxy—where ideas are stars you can navigate, connect, and dive into.
What it does
VisualFlow turns any topic into a 3D, navigable knowledge universe. AI generates a hierarchical concept map with subtopics, examples, analogies, and relationships. Users explore clusters of ideas as constellations, zoom into stars for details, and interact with a dynamic, visually stunning interface.
How we built it
We combined AI for hierarchical knowledge generation with a Three.js frontend for immersive 3D visualization. Physics-based movement, particle effects, and neon panels bring the galaxy to life. Each click dynamically expands subtopics and reveals connections in real-time.
Challenges we ran into
Mapping abstract concepts into a visual hierarchy was tricky. Ensuring smooth performance in 3D with large knowledge graphs required optimizing rendering and physics calculations. Balancing aesthetic appeal with clarity and usability was also a major focus.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created an intuitive way to explore complex ideas that’s both educational and visually stunning. Users can now navigate entire topics like galaxies, discovering relationships and analogies they might have missed in traditional formats.
What we learned
We gained experience integrating AI with real-time 3D visualization, learned how to translate abstract concepts into spatial hierarchies, and deepened our understanding of UX for interactive learning tools.
What's next for VisualFlow
We plan to add collaborative features, personalized learning paths, and real-time updates from AI. Eventually, we aim to make the platform a universal “knowledge universe” where any idea can be explored like a living galaxy.
