Inspiration
We were inspired to help visually impaired people feel more confident navigating the roads when we first saw a Google Doodle for yellow rumble strips and wanted to do what they had done for those.
What it does
Help visually impaired people avoid dangerous intersections/areas and navigate the streets by communicating verbally with TTS software to speak out information from Google maps (background of app) and with varying pulses of vibrations.
How we built it
using android studio.
Challenges we ran into
We found it very hard to coordinate the location and integrate gps into if/else commands for the app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-Getting the project together and integrating the parts
What we learned
using coordinates to emulate an action, teamwork
What's next for Visual Access
New support for locational access and better TTS with info from google api.
