Inspiration
Our past flight travels
What it does
The main focus of our app is customer experience. The app is a complete package of entertainment and social involvement along with business point of attraction for the analysis of the series of activities done by passengers so that it can be analysed and therefore providing monetory benefits to Vistara and also improving customer experience.
How we built it
We built an android app for our problem statement. The app uses Java, XML and JSON to interact with APIs. The Google Places API web service is used for getting the destination spots and the nearby attractions. The socializing feature of the app connects passengers who wish to find travel mates and lets them talk to each other. This helps in finding co-passengers with similar interests.
Challenges we ran into
The Google places API that we used to find photos and places has a limitation of the number of times it can be queried. So we had trouble in the beginning because the app was crashing due to this. Later we figured out this restriction and tried getting newer keys and working with them. Also internet connectivity was a problem.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made the app without much help from others. The challenges we faced surely made us tensed for some time but then when we were able to solve them, it came out to be very happy moment. We are happy that we made all the features we thought of making and even additional feature of creating an excel sheet which helps Vistara in analysis of customer experience and series of travel.
What we learned
We learned using APIs and also tackling the unknown problems that arise in usually simple looking app. The most knowledgeable part of the event was to get to know more about the aviation industry which was otherwise, unknown to us.
What's next for VisTainment
We wanted to do the data analysis also for the excel sheet we created so that it could add to the product. We also wanted the whole app to work in offline mode without any internet need so that would be one thing that we are looking forward.
