## Inspiration
As students at Syracuse University, we feel a strong connection to the city that surrounds our campus and serves as our home. We see firsthand the impact that housing quality has on residents’ well-being, and we’re inspired to use our skills to make a positive impact on our community. Syracuse, like many cities, faces challenges with housing code enforcement, vacant properties, and maintaining safe, healthy living environments—issues that directly affect neighborhoods and the lives of people within them.

## What it does
Our project analyzes Syracuse’s housing challenges by examining real data on code violations, vacant properties, and rental compliance. By identifying patterns in these areas, we aim to highlight key areas needing improvement to enhance housing quality and safety. The goal is to empower local officials and community members to make informed, data-driven decisions to improve housing standards across Syracuse.

## How we built it
We utilized data analysis tools and methods to examine datasets on code violations, vacant properties, and rental compliance. By focusing on data-driven insights, we were able to identify specific areas where intervention could have the most impact.

## Challenges we ran into
One of the primary challenges was obtaining and cleaning real-world data to ensure accuracy. Additionally, finding patterns and actionable insights in large datasets required careful analysis and interpretation.

## Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of using our skills to create meaningful insights that can contribute positively to our community. Our analysis highlights important areas for improvement, offering potential solutions to support safer, healthier neighborhoods.

## What we learned
We gained valuable experience in data analysis and the practical challenges of working with real-world data. Additionally, we learned more about the housing issues facing Syracuse and how data can support local decision-making.

## What's next for VISTA
Next, we plan to work with community partners to implement our findings and continue refining our analysis. We aim to expand our data sources, include community feedback, and explore new ways to support local housing initiatives.
