Inspiration
We wanted to make home workouts more engaging by bringing an interactive fitness experience to the TV. VisionFit Live is designed to help users follow bodyweight workouts and track their progress on a big screen.
What it does
VisionFit Live is a TV-oriented fitness application with an interactive workout interface, squat-tracking logic, workout session controls, and workout history. It includes a pose-estimation pipeline using MediaPipe Pose Landmarker and a Demo Mode for exploring the workout experience.
How we built it
We built the application using React, TypeScript, and a native Android wrapper with a WebView-based interface. The pose pipeline uses MediaPipe Tasks Vision and a locally bundled Pose Landmarker Lite model. The interface is designed for TV navigation and includes session progress, repetition counts, and history.
Challenges we faced
We worked on TV-friendly layouts, remote-control navigation, camera permissions, and integrating pose estimation into an Android application. Emulator startup stability and real-person squat-counting accuracy still require further validation.
What's next
Our next steps are to validate real-person tracking, improve startup reliability, and verify compatibility with the required Fire TV target platform.
Platform and testing status
The application has been built and tested on an Android TV API 36 emulator. Fire OS/Vega OS compatibility has not yet been verified. Demo Mode and pose-estimation functionality should be distinguished from features that have not yet been fully validated.
