Inspiration
Our team was inspired by the growing global myopia epidemic — a condition projected to affect over 5 billion people by 2050. As students passionate about both eye health and technology, we wanted to explore how AI could help people take better care of their vision before it deteriorates. When we learned about Google Gemini’s capabilities during the workshop, we realized we could build something that uses generative AI to make daily vision health both interactive and data-driven.
What it does
Visionaryth is a gamified digital health platform that helps users build healthy vision habits. It integrates eye-strain tracking, break reminders, and interactive exercises into a simple web app powered by Gemini 1.5 Pro. Users answer a few lifestyle questions, and Gemini dynamically generates a personalized “Vision Routine” — complete with 20-20-20 reminders, screen-time balance suggestions, and adaptive micro-break challenges.
How we built it
We built the prototype entirely during Deltahacks Lite using:
Google Gemini API for text generation and user personalization
Gemini prompt-chaining to analyze user inputs and create individualized daily vision plans.
Everything — from concept ideation to functional demo — was generated, refined, and built collaboratively with Gemini in just a few hours.
Challenges we ran into
Working under a four-hour sprint forced us to rapidly iterate. The hardest parts were:
Designing a coherent user flow while learning Gemini’s API syntax in real time.
Prompt-engineering Gemini to produce medically accurate yet friendly advice.
Keeping the frontend lightweight enough to deploy instantly on Vercel.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a fully functional AI-powered vision-care assistant in one night.
Learned how to integrate LLMs into practical health tech tools.
Used generative AI to co-design not just the content, but also the branding and UI flow of our project.
What we learned
We discovered how powerful Gemini can be for rapid prototyping — it helped us brainstorm names, write code snippets, and generate adaptive logic. Beyond that, we learned how AI can bridge creativity and healthcare, transforming wellness advice into something fun and habit-forming.
What's next for Visionaryth
We plan to extend Visionaryth into a mobile app that integrates:
Eye-tracking sensors to quantify blink rate and screen distance.
Gamified progress systems for long-term engagement.
Partnerships with optometrists to provide accurate pre-screening tools.
Ultimately, our goal is to make digital vision wellness accessible to everyone — starting with an idea born at Deltahacks Lite.
