Inspiration:

Our inspiration for the app was hearing about children that had to provide for their families and could not attend school. The UN goal #4 talks about quality education and how people do not have access to it.

What it does:

Our app is a learning platform that connects students with retired and current teachers through curated lesson plans and interactive material that range from kindergarten to master’s degree knowledge. Students can choose from a wide range of courses, learning at their own pace while receiving instant support from real time teachers who are always willing to assist with explanations and practice. Whether you are a student without access to traditional schooling or just eager to learn more, our app makes top tier education available to all, anytime and anywhere.

How we built it:

We built the wireframe by using Google Slides to easily manipulate the wireframe needed to display our idea without coding, using over complicated websites, or having to pay for any services that could get us the same results. We also used a past wireframe made by our team 3 months ago, allowing us to save time and our energy for our work by having a layout for our wireframe.

Challenges we ran into:

Some challenges we faced were that Google Slides is tedious, so a lot of time is spent formatting. The designing for the wireframe had to be copied throughout every slide, because of this it had wasted time and energy instead of letting us change our design throughout the entire wireframe. Another challenge we had faced during this project was the complication of our wireframe, as it had a confusing layout that our own team members couldn't figure out, which allowed us to test our design of the wireframe and change it as we figured out what would make sense for the unbiased common viewer.

Accomplishments:

We are incredibly proud of being able to code an entire wireframe solely on Google Slides, as presentation apps are made for the purpose to go in one direct line, using Google Slides made our work harder, but ultimately was worth it as we were able to have a simple wireframe that could portray our idea in a way that made sense and wasn't complicated. The biggest accomplishment that we made in Google Slides was linking every slide to different slides. This use of linking was incredibly hard to figure out at first because of our design, as while it is simple, it created complications with our color and made it hard to link without it trying to change the name of our label.

What we learned:

We have learned how to complete and work a wireframe in a team, as we were able to work together and create something incredibly complicated with our own ideas in mind. This collaboration effort has shown us the efforts of those in the technical industry of the real world when creating apps, as everyone has their own idea of the app and must come together to fit those ideas in together. This experience has also allowed us to learn the complications of making an app, specifically the wireframe. We learned the work that goes into the apps we use every day, allowing us to understand and appreciate those that put time and effort into building these apps.

What's next for VISIONARY:

Our plans for VISIONARY are to continue upgrading our initial app using AI powered tools to enhance the learning experience for our students and teachers. We will offer to be able to schedule meetings with teachers so that the students can learn online if they connect better that way!
