Inspiration

In many industries, visual inspection is still dependent on manual checking. This can be time-consuming, inconsistent, and difficult to scale when the number of products or inspection points increases.

We wanted to build a practical solution that could assist inspectors by using AI to identify visible defects and provide a simple way to review inspection results.

What We Built

Vision Inspect AI is an AI-powered visual inspection system designed to help detect defects from uploaded or captured product images.

The system provides separate dashboards for Admin and Inspector users. Inspectors can submit inspection images, while the system analyzes the images and identifies potential defects. The results are presented through a simple dashboard so that inspection decisions can be made more quickly.

The Admin dashboard provides centralized monitoring and review of inspection activities. The Inspector dashboard focuses on submitting images, viewing AI-based inspection results, and tracking the inspection process.

How We Built It

We designed the application around an AI-based image inspection workflow:

  1. Inspector uploads or captures a product image.
  2. The image is sent to the AI inspection module.
  3. The system analyzes the image for visible defects.
  4. The detected result is returned to the application.
  5. The result is displayed in the Inspector dashboard.
  6. Admin users can monitor and review inspection activities.

The project combines a web-based dashboard with AI-based image analysis to create a simple inspection workflow.

Challenges We Faced

One of the main challenges was making the inspection workflow simple enough for an inspector to use while still presenting useful AI results.

Another challenge was handling different image conditions and ensuring that the system could provide consistent results. We also focused on designing separate Admin and Inspector views so that each user could access only the information relevant to their role.

What We Learned

Through this project, we learned how AI-based image analysis can be integrated into a real-world application rather than being used only as a standalone model.

We also gained experience in designing role-based dashboards, connecting the AI processing workflow with a web application, and presenting technical results in a way that is easier for users to understand.

Future Scope

The system can be extended with more defect categories, larger and more diverse training datasets, real-time camera-based inspection, inspection history and analytics, and integration with industrial quality-control workflows.

Vision Inspect AI is intended to act as an intelligent assistant for inspectors, helping reduce repetitive manual inspection work while keeping human review in the loop.
