Inspiration

Our journey began with a shared frustration: the limited capabilities of traditional treadmills. We noticed how these machines failed to provide vital feedback such as step count, heart rate monitoring, and temperature control. This gap in the fitness industry inspired us to create the VirtualWatch ProHealth, a device designed to revolutionize the treadmill experience by offering advanced health tracking and interactive features.

What It Does

VirtualWatch ProHealth is an innovative treadmill accessory that enhances workout sessions through real-time monitoring and interaction. Key features include:

  • Heart Rate Monitoring: Keeps track of your heart rate during exercise.
  • Step Counting: Utilizes an accelerometer to count steps accurately.
  • Temperature Control: Features a cooling mechanism that activates based on workout intensity.
  • Health Alerts: Provides alerts when heart rate exceeds safe thresholds.
  • Data Logging: Collects and logs exercise data for later analysis.
  • Integration with Treadmill UI: Displays exercise status and intensity levels directly on the treadmill’s interface.

How We Built It

  1. Design and Planning: We started with brainstorming sessions to outline the desired features and overall design.
  2. Hardware Assembly: Integrated Arduino for processing, an accelerometer for step counting, and a heart rate sensor for health monitoring.
  3. Software Development: Developed custom software using Python, focusing on real-time data processing and logging.
  4. Interface Development: Created a user-friendly interface that displays exercise data on the treadmill screen.
  5. Testing and Refinement: Conducted extensive testing to ensure accuracy and reliability, followed by iterations based on user feedback.

Challenges We Ran Into

We faced several challenges, including:
