What inspired us to create this project?

  • We experience long wait lines to see doctor despite making appointment, and it is very frustrating. Especially in midst of a global pandemic that has claimed the lives of over 2 million individuals, providing a solution to increase social distancing is important.

Who created this project?

  • Angela Leung (Idea Creator/UX/UI), Kevlyn Kadamala (Developer), Anan Aziz (Developer), Aaron Dsa (Developer)

What VirtualQ does?

After patients check-in with a personalized code at the receptionist, patients then have the freedom to wait elsewhere (ex: car, park, cafe shop), and go back to the doctor's office when the app alerts the patient that their doctor is ready to see them in 5 minutes. On the VirtualQ app, there are suggestions of local businesses for the patient to check out through the help of API and AI.

What did we use?

React Native, React, Javascript, Google Cloud, Google Slides, UX Palette, Loom

What challenges did we face?

We had to learning new technology and languages such as React.

What are we proud of?

The VirtualQ app solves immediate health and social issues of reducing the risk and spread of illnesses, and viruses such as the COVID-19 virus. Furthermore, it helps the economy by suggesting local businesses to users.

What did we learn?

Besides learning React, we learned it is important to support one another because our team is spread out throughout the world, as half the team is in a timezone 11 hours apart.

What's next for VirtualQ?

We will continue to partner with physicans to get this app enroled out to as many places as possible. Once we have enough data to conduct data analyzation, VirtualQ can expand beyond the medical field.
