Inspiration

Every entrepreneur dreams of pitching their idea on Shark Tank, but not everyone gets that chance. As avid fans of the show and passionate builders, Abhirup and I (Subhadip) wanted to bring the thrill and learning of the Shark Tank experience to anyone, anywhere. We imagined a platform where founders could practice, refine, and even enjoy the drama of negotiation—all powered by AI. That’s how the idea for Virtual Shark Tank was born.

What it does

Virtual Shark Tank is an interactive, AI-driven simulation of the iconic Shark Tank pitch session. Users fill in their business details, then face a two-minute countdown to craft their pitch. Once submitted, our AI “sharks” analyze the pitch, ask probing questions, and decide whether to make an offer or go out. If offers come in, users can negotiate terms, just like on the real show. It’s a fun, high-pressure, and insightful way to practice pitching and negotiation skills.

How we built it

The magic lies in the simplicity: we built the whole experience with just one Bolt AI prompt. That single prompt orchestrates the entire flow—from collecting business details, to managing the countdown, analyzing the pitch, generating questions, evaluating answers, and handling negotiation. Bolt AI’s flexibility allowed us to keep the backend lean while delivering a dynamic, multi-stage user journey. We collaborated closely, iterating on prompt design and user experience to make everything seamless and engaging.

Challenges we ran into

Simulating the nuanced, sometimes unpredictable behavior of real Shark Tank investors was tough. We wanted our AI sharks to ask sharp questions, spot red flags, and make realistic offers. Balancing the complexity of negotiations within a single prompt pushed us to get creative with context management and prompt engineering. Ensuring the countdown and user interactions felt natural also took some trial and error.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud that we recreated the Shark Tank experience—end-to-end—with just one Bolt prompt. The AI sharks feel lively and engaging, and users get a genuine sense of pressure and excitement. We managed to keep the tech stack simple without sacrificing depth or interactivity. Most of all, we built something that founders and students can actually use to improve their real-world pitching skills.

What we learned

We learned that with the right tools and a bit of creativity, even complex, multi-stage experiences can be built quickly and elegantly. Prompt engineering is an art, and small tweaks can have a big impact on user experience. We also discovered the importance of iterative testing—getting feedback from users helped us fine-tune the sharks’ personalities and the negotiation flow.

What's next for Virtual Shark Tank

We’re excited to expand Virtual Shark Tank with more customization—like letting users choose their panel of AI sharks, or integrating feedback on pitch structure and delivery. We want to add leaderboards, pitch competitions, and perhaps even real investors for the best pitches. Our goal is to make Virtual Shark Tank the go-to platform for anyone looking to sharpen their entrepreneurial edge, all while having fun along the way.
