Inspiration
I recently grew very fascinated with VR technology. Since I am into robotics, I also made one using Arduino and IMUs. While testing it though, I stubbed my toe on my bed and hurt myself. This got me thinking about this game, what if you had to finish your game but also adapt to your surroundings.
What it does
This game allows players to play two games in one. You have 5 seconds to memorize the real life layout, marked in red, then escape the virtual layout, in blue, while also adjusting to the real layout.
How we built it
Using Unity game engine and coding it using C#
Challenges we ran into
It was a huge time constraint and it was hard to be both ambitious and practical. Moreover the constant debugging made me want to leave the challenge, but now at the finish line, I'm glad I did not.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finishing the game in <36 hours
What we learned
How to manage time, programming, emotions and motivation at once!
What's next for Virtual Illusions
Better graphics and smoother mechanics to make it into a real game.
