Inspiration:
Fashion is a form of self-expression, but many struggle with creating stylish outfits that reflect their personality and align with current trends. Traditional styling services can be costly and exclusive, leaving many individuals without access to personalized fashion advice. We were inspired to create a solution that democratizes fashion styling, making it accessible to everyone regardless of budget or location.
What it does:
Our Virtual Fashion Stylist utilizes AI technology to provide personalized outfit recommendations and styling advice. Users can upload images of their clothing items and receive suggestions for stylish outfit combinations tailored to their preferences and current fashion trends. Currently, we have a predefined data, out of which a user can ask
How we built it:
We built the Virtual Fashion Stylist using a combination of machine learning models and the Vertex AI Gemini API by Google. The system includes backend services for image recognition, style analysis, personalization. We trained machine learning models on fashion datasets to analyze clothing attributes and take the prompt from the user to get recommendations what to wear. Integration with the Gemini API enables seamless model deployment and inference, ensuring efficient and scalable performance.
Challenges we ran into:
One challenge we encountered was downloading the dataset and importing them into notebook as it's important to load the data. Second was to get the Gemini APIs to integrate for recommendations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
We are proud to have developed a prototype of the Virtual Fashion Stylist that demonstrates the potential of AI technology to revolutionize the fashion industry. Our solution combines innovative generative with intuitive user interfaces to deliver a seamless and engaging experience for users.
What we learned:
Through the development of the Virtual Fashion Stylist, we learned valuable lessons about the complexities of fashion styling and the potential of AI technology to address these challenges. We gained experience in using generative AI for fashion analysis. Additionally, we deepened our understanding of user-centric design principles and the importance of feedback in iterative product development.
What's next for Virtual Fashion Stylist:
In the future, we envision expanding it to ease the process of adding items into your virtual closet by just simply scanning receipts or simply link your membership with the Fashion Stylist and it will pick up your online shopping with all attributes. It can also suggest if the clothes would go with any existing collection from my wardrobe. We also want to expand it to support accessories recommendations that goes with the pair. Additionally, users will be able to virtually try on recommended outfits using augmented reality (AR) technology, allowing them to visualize how different pieces look together before making a purchase.
