The Problem

International coordination amongst testing laboratories worldwide has never been more important. We aim to solve the problem of global alignment and collaboration of laboratories working on the same issue, discouraging competition, redundancies and promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, knowledge production exchange and networking to tackle the most complex problems we are facing. A lack of a worldwide coordination will inevitably lead to inefficiencies, we aim to enable fast, coordinated, high quality responses to the COVID-19.

Inspiration

Virtual CoLab-19 is a project that aims to promote and encourage active networking among geographically remote biomedical laboratories involved in COVID-19 testing using an integrated virtual environment. In order to foster a community-based model of knowledge management for interactive innovation and knowledge sharing, we aim to harness a highly efficient virtual collaborative environment. This would allow that all COVID-19 testing facilities grow together in performance and efficiency using validated test methods, following the existing examples of community sharing as the high quality European Laboratory Network EU-NETVAL https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en/eurl/ecvam/alternative-methods-toxicity-testing/eu-netval .
