Inspiration
Our innovation is a remote virtual medical health platform that offers immediate access to health consultation services and medication delivery to patients. The virtual clinic (Digicare) provides patients with a platform to book and conduct consultations with their doctors online through a digitized mobile and web-based platform with a data-saving video conferencing tool and a flexible booking schedule for the patients. It focuses on flexible scheduling to avoid clinic waiting room queues and offering service to patients that cannot physically attend the clinic but need medical attention.
What it does
The virtual clinic is a platform where patients get access to vetted qualified medical professionals for consultation, therapy, and other medical-related issues. Patients browse through doctors, select their doctor of choice, book consultation sessions, get e-prescriptions, and have their medication delivered to them (optionally) The virtual clinic is a platform where qualified medical personnel can consult and prescribe medication to patients remotely and patients can have medication delivered to them in their remote locations. It is a mobile and web-based platform that has a data-saving video conferencing tool and a flexible schedule for both the patients and the doctor.
How we built it
The basic backbone infrastructure for this innovation has been developed in the form of a website (https://thevirtualclinic.co.zw/) still under construction and an android mobile application. Our team comprises 2 software developers who are working on the platform with a few features like e-prescription integration being the remaining features yet to be completed and linked to the booking system. The remaining processes that have to be done before commercializing are enrolling doctors and forming partnerships with local pharmacies. In less than 8 months we can go commercial. This platform will be the first of many telehealth services that we will be offering.
Challenges we ran into
Lack of capital in purchasing hardware and software licenses.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to complete the whole project in one week.
What we learned
As a team, we can achieve a lot and more solutions for the human race
What's next for Virtual Clinic
For the future, Data mining can be used in the system to collect specific information that can be used as statistics for analysis and opening a gateway to improvements using artificial intelligence in the improvement of the Chabot. While traditional organizations create value within their firm or supply chain boundaries, digital platforms leverage and orchestrate a platform-mediated ecosystem to create and co-create value with a much wider array of partners and actors. Although the change to two-sided markets and their generalization to platform ecosystems have been adopted among various industries, both academic research and industry adoption has lagged in the healthcare industry. To the best of our knowledge, current Information Systems research has not yet incorporated an inter-organizational perspective of the digital transformation of healthcare. This neglects a wide range of emerging changes, including changing the segmentation of industry market participants, changing patient segments, changing patient roles as decision-makers, and their interaction with patient care.
