Inspiration
The goal of making scientific education more approachable and interesting served as the impetus for the creation of the Virtual Chemistry Lab. With no need for pricey lab equipment or worries about safety, our goal was to develop a tool that would let students investigate the fascinating field of chemistry from the comfort of their own homes.
What it does
Students may connect chemical calculations with real-world laboratory chemistry by using Virtual Chemistry Lab, an online simulation of a chemistry lab. The website gives students practice in stoichiometry, thermochemistry, acid-base chemistry, equilibrium, and other topics with hundreds of standard reagents and problems. Using the virtual lab, students may create their own experiments and test their theories. A helpful resource for improving students' conceptual grasp, problem-solving abilities, and scientific inquiry is the virtual chemistry lab.
How I built it
To replicate actual chemical processes, cutting-edge tool called as AWS PartyRock was used in the creation of the Virtual Chemistry Lab. Students of all ages may easily explore and conduct experiments because to the user interface's child-friendly and straightforward design.
Challenges I ran into
Making sure the simulated experiments were accurate was one of the biggest problems I encountered. To ensure that our virtual reactions as closely resembled their real-life counterparts as possible, I invested decent amount of time and effort into research. In addition to being enjoyable to use, I wanted the lab to offer a worthwhile educational opportunity.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
I am pleased with the creation of an interactive, realistic virtual lab that can replicate a range of chemical phenomena and reactions.
What I learned
I gained a great deal of knowledge about the complexities of chemistry and the value of interactive learning while working on this project. Additionally, I learned a great deal about using AI tools.
What's next for Virtual Chemistry Lab
By including additional reagents, situations, and puzzles covering many chemistry-related themes and levels, I hope this reaches wider audience. To make the virtual lab more aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly, I also intend to enhance its user interface and visuals. In order to assess our virtual lab's efficacy and its influence on students' learning outcomes and attitudes, I want to work in conjunction with other researchers and educators.
