Inspiration The inspiration for Virtual Angel came from a common frustration in the nail industry: customers often leave salons unsatisfied with their chosen nail designs, colors, or charms, which can be costly and time-consuming to fix. We wanted to solve this problem by creating a platform that allows users to visualize nail designs in real-time before making a decision, while also giving nail artists a space to showcase their work and grow their businesses.

What it does Virtual Angel is a digital platform that connects nail artists and customers. It enables users to visualize nail designs on their hands using real-time augmented reality, ensuring they are satisfied before booking an appointment. The platform offers a marketplace where artists can sell products and designs, and a feature allowing users to scan nail designs or charms using image recognition to find where to purchase them.

How I built it We used Figma and Blender to showcase our prototype.

Challenges One of the biggest challenges was not being able to fully complete the demo. We aimed to demonstrate how the scanning feature for nail designs or charms would work, but it turned out to be too advanced for the time and resources we had available. Integrating real-time scanning and recognition for such small and detailed objects like nail charms proved to be more complex than expected.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of We are proud of showing the prototype of how the platform would look and function. Even though we couldn’t fully implement every feature, our prototype successfully demonstrated the user interface and AR visualization for nail designs. This helped bring our concept to life and gave a clear picture of what the final product would achieve.

What I learned Throughout this project, we learned a lot about the complexities of augmented reality integration and image recognition technology. We also gained valuable insights into the nail industry, understanding both customer pain points and the needs of nail artists. Developing a platform that balances technical challenges with user experience was a significant learning experience.

What's next for Virtual Angel Moving forward, we plan to expand the platform’s functionality by incorporating more advanced AR features and AI-driven personalization to suggest nail designs based on user preferences. We also want to build a larger network of nail artists globally, allowing them to reach new customers and grow their businesses. Additionally, we aim to explore partnerships with nail product companies and beauty salons to enhance the platform's offerings.
