Inspiration
We saw Sammy and knew we wanted to include him in our game. It is our first hackathon and we wanted to try something fun and different so we decided to try out a game where students get to take care of a virtual pet.
What it does
It takes in a student's schedule and if the student follows it they get points to "buy" food to keep their pet alive. When Sammy "eats" the food, points go down. Students can also upload classes to the digital calendar and gain points by doing so.
How we built it
We built it using Flutter and Flame with Dart programming.
Challenges we ran into
We wanted to use live tracking but it took too much time after we attempted it so we had to move past it and focus on the schedule portion of the app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're super proud that were able to learn with Dart as it's our first time working with it or making an app in general.
What we learned
We learned to prepare more ahead of time.
What's next for VirtPet
Hopefully, we'll get to continue the app and figure out live location tracking with Dart.
