Inspiration
The lack of information on coronavirus perpetuates fear and stigma and will further the spread of the disease.
What it does
We created a centralized source on coronavirus combining global statistics, relevant preventative care info that is culturally sensitive, and resources for those affected directly and indirectly.
How we built it
We used html and css for the web development. We created a chatbot named Vira which is an informative chatbot on everything related to the coronavirus. We wanted to stimulate a human-human interaction, therefore we made a chatbot using Google Dialog Flow. We trained Vira to answers questions related to coronavirus by setting up the intents, training phrases, and responses.
Challenges we ran into
We hadn't used html and css in a while, so we had to refresh our skills in web development. Learning and implementing a new software, Google DialogueFlow Making sure the information our chatbot, Vira, provided was accurate and of consistent tone Anticipating user statements and providing plenty of options for the chatbot to recognize Creating a flow of conversation with yes/no statements
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Integrating the chatbot on the website. The graphic interface is easy to use.
What we learned
We learned how to use Google DialogueFlow and how to create a persona for a chatbot.
What's next for Virasistant
Ideally the chatbot would learn from user input and develop more accurate responses.
