Vipassana

Inspiration

The primary inspiration is the philosophical journey of Vipassanā (Insight Meditation) and the existential questions: "Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going?"

We sought to visualize this internal process—the struggle against the chaos of the mind and the ultimate realization of oneness—using a Cyber-Gothic aesthetic.

Visual influences include post-apocalyptic decay, glitch art, and the profound symbolism of natural cycles (lilies, ravens, seeds).

What it does

Vipassanā is a 5-minute Deep House Narrative Short that transforms abstract concepts into a powerful, sequential visual story.

It demonstrates how a single, cohesive artistic vision can be executed through a pipeline reliant on Generative AI for both audio composition and visual asset creation.

The final output is a high-concept film detailing the protagonist's journey from a cracked state of confusion (in a lost church) to her metamorphosis into life's ultimate source (the seed/embryo).

How we built it

Audio Generation: The core Deep House track was composed using Suno V5, guided by custom-written lyrics to match the specific emotional pacing required for the narrative beats

Visual Assets: All complex video segments were generated using Kling AI.

Cohesion & Editing: The final 5-minute film was edited in CapCut. We used "Image Prompting", a consistent Seed Number strategy, and Glitch Transitions to achieve visual coherence despite the 5-second AI segment limitation.

Challenges we ran into

AI Coherence: The biggest challenge was maintaining protagonist consistency and shot continuity across dozens of 5-second segments generated by Kling AI, especially for the complex White-Haired Seeker.

Temporal Constraint: The 5-minute song length required meticulous shot planning and strategic use of looping in Deep House sections.

Visualizing Abstract Concepts: Translating highly abstract concepts into effective AI prompts was an ongoing iterative process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

First-Time Cross-Disciplinary Success: As a Computer Science graduate student, this marks my first-ever attempt at music production and creating a full, AI-driven music video. The entire process, from Suno composition to Kling AI visuals, was new and immensely challenging.

Cohesive Narrative Achievement: We successfully leveraged technical strategy (like seed consistency and prompting) to overcome the major hurdle of AI video inconsistency, delivering the complex, 5-minute philosophical narrative of Vipassanā with strong visual coherence.

What we learned

The critical importance of Seed Number consistency and Image Prompting as the primary method for maintaining character identity across disconnected AI video segments.

Mastering the use of Glitch Art and Dynamic Panning/Zooming in the CapCut to artistically mask AI incoherence, turning technical flaws into stylistic advantages.

Deepened understanding of philosophical prompt engineering—how to translate abstract concepts into concrete, powerful AI imagery.
