VintageVibes

Inspiration: I stumbled upon the issue of Singapore's rapidly increasing elderly population while working on another project. Learning about this demographic challenge, and considering our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's acknowledgment of the crisis, sparked the idea of creating a platform to assist and support the elderly.

What it does: VintageVibes is a multifaceted website designed to serve as a comprehensive resource for senior citizens. It provides guidance on exercise regimens, optimal meal schedules, and productive ways to utilize free time. The platform is also developing a feature that will enable seniors to connect with individuals in their local community. Users can upload images of cherished memories, and a daily quiz helps them track their activities, including exercise, diet, social interactions, and time management.

How we built it: Our project began with meticulous design on Figma, which served as our visual blueprint. We then translated this design into a functional website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on Replit.

Challenges we ran into: Throughout the development process, we encountered various challenges. Achieving pixel-perfect consistency between our Figma design and the actual website was one hurdle. Debugging issues and resolving errors also posed difficulties that required creative problem-solving.

Accomplishments that we're proud of: This project represents a significant milestone in my coding journey. While I've worked on numerous coding projects before, nothing quite compares to the scale and aesthetic appeal of VintageVibes. The determination to stay up late, watching tutorials and diving deep into HTML, paid off when we saw the final result.

What we learned: The project was an invaluable learning experience. It expanded our knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Figma, enabling us to turn a vision into a functional website.

What's next for VintageVibes: There are exciting plans for the future of VintageVibes. We intend to implement a feature that facilitates connections among users, fostering new friendships and social interactions. Additionally, we're working on a system for long-term image storage, a database to save daily quiz results, and the addition of more comprehensive information resources to further enrich the user experience. The journey of VintageVibes has only just begun, and we're committed to making it even more beneficial for our senior community.
