Inspiration
The original Vine platform was undeniably entertaining, but was notoriously hard to search. Most Vines live on in uncustomizable and unidexable YouTube compilations. The inspiration/tagline of the project was "Spotify for Vines" that would build off the existing, deprecated Vine.co website and use AI services to make Vines searchable by the content of Vine using speech and image/video recognition.
What it does
Using Amazon Transcript, Vines are transcribed and the resulting transcription is written as an attribute to an object file. Rekognition was also considered to populate a "tags" attribute. The end user can then search by video transcription or content tags to find the one specific vine they were looking for!
How we built it
We went with a webpage with a javascript backend as it could most easily query either other webpages or a database.
Challenges we ran into
Incorporating Amazon Transcribe and Rekognition to auto-transcribe and tag our videos.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Our search function and transcribe work!
What's next for Vineyard
Would love to eventually be able to scrape from the Vine.co website en-mass and use web-hosted video files, using this kind of service for other platforms like YouTube and TikTok would also be a goal
