Why we need Viewie
Have you ever been troubled by lack of participants for your survey? Yes? Then let us introduce you to Viewie. It’s a platform for fellow data gatherer, it addresses the key problem we discovered with regular google form or surveys. Lack of incentives and the uncertainty about where to post the surveys to draw in participants.
What Viewie does
Viewie allows people to upload their surveys and contribute to other’s. It utilizes a credit system giving users the initiatives to actively complete surveys. Active users are rewarded with credits which they can use to boost/promote their survey in the algorithm so that their survey is more likely to be chosen by other users. It is also quite simple to use as user could upload survey using google form link.
How we built it
Using the Firebase Database, Viewie can keep track of a user’s account including account authentication and data storage. The app itself is programmed with React framework which allows reusable components, less tedious than pure HTML/CSS/Javascript programming.
Challenges we ran into
Since most of our team members have little to no experience with app development, especially react, it is challenging to code with the framework to build this app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're pretty happy with the project’s idea and the potentials. We also managed to get some of the pages working with React and Firebase despite our coding skill.
What we learned
We learnt about UX design, how aesthetics can affect user experience. Importance of pitch, and mainly how to code a web app.
What's next for Viewie
We’re looking to make the mobile app which would make Viewie more accessible. A google extension would another thing we had thought of to make things even easier for the users.
