What it does

I love films, but choosing one is where the fun dies: endless scrolling alone, and with friends, one person ends up picking for everyone. VieMo makes the choosing part of the experience.

Mix up to four moods on a mixing desk to find films that fit every one. Swipe through real films to build a ranked shortlist. Pull the lever on WheelMo and watch a reel of posters roll to a stop on a pick the server drew with a cryptographic random number, so every film gets an equal chance. Open a Movie Night with a six-character code: friends add films, vote in private and watch the same spin live, and the reel only chooses between films the whole group said yes to.

Every film you log hangs on your Wall of Fame, framed by how much you said about it, with your favourites gilded in a Hall of Fame. Your month lights up as a cinema seating chart called Screening Activity. Public collections appear on Explore as record sleeves to save, copy or spin, and you can follow friends. You can even set your favourite poster as a faint background, with a film-reel cursor.

AI does real work here. Reel Director turns “something cosy for a rainy night with my mum” into three picks: a safe choice, a wildcard and a hidden gem. The AI can only choose from real films the server gives it, and the server checks every pick. Mo, a companion on every page, knows which page you’re on, looks up real film data with tools, and can save films or start a room for you.

Safety was designed in, not added on. Mo only proposes actions, which run after you press Confirm, and the server rebuilds each one from real data, so a made-up film can never be saved. Spoiler-free mode is on by default, API keys never reach the browser, and rate limits and daily caps control cost. Privacy is enforced by the database itself. We tested it end to end, including a scripted AI that replays failure cases on demand.

VieMo is live today, built by a film lover for everyone who’d rather be watching than scrolling.
