Inspiration

Millions of small business owners across India and the developing world run their shops using pen, paper, and memory. They cannot benefit from modern AI tools because those tools speak only English and require technical knowledge they simply don't have. When we saw a vegetable vendor manually counting stock at midnight, we knew there had to be a better way. That moment inspired VidyutBot.

What It Does

VidyutBot is a no-code AI business assistant built on the MeDo platform that empowers small business owners to:

  • Talk to their business in Hindi or English via a chat interface
  • Track inventory using simple natural language queries
  • Auto-answer customer FAQs without any manual setup
  • Get daily AI-generated sales summaries and business insights
  • Deploy in under 10 minutes — zero coding required

How We Built It

We leveraged MeDo's Low/No-Code platform as the backbone of our application, combining it with its AI/ML capabilities to build a multilingual intent recognition pipeline. The workflow:

  1. MeDo powers the entire low-code interface and workflow logic
  2. AI layer handles natural language understanding in Hindi + English
  3. A lightweight inventory database sits behind the chatbot
  4. Responses are generated contextually using MeDo's AI integration
  5. The whole system is deployable via a simple shareable link

Challenges We Ran Into

  • Training the AI to understand mixed Hindi-English (Hinglish) queries was harder than expected
  • Mapping vague natural language ("do I have enough onions?") to structured database queries required creative prompt engineering
  • Keeping the UX genuinely simple for non-tech users took multiple rounds of testing and redesign

What We Learned

  • MeDo's platform is incredibly powerful for rapid AI prototyping
  • Real-world users interact with AI very differently than developers assume
  • The best AI product is one the user forgets is AI — it just feels helpful

What's Next for VidyutBot

  • Support for 8 more Indian languages (Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, etc.)
  • WhatsApp integration so owners can manage business via chat they already use
  • Voice input support for users with low literacy
  • Expansion to Southeast Asian markets (Indonesia, Vietnam)
