Inspiration
The inspiration for Vidyut stemmed from witnessing the adverse effects of fossil fuel overexploitation and the urgency to shift to renewable energy. The team noticed the pressing need to create a user-friendly solution that educates and empowers individuals to adopt solar energy in their daily lives for a sustainable future.
What it does
The increase in population has lead to a surge in demand for all the available things on the planet varying from renewable resources like water to fossil fuels. Hence, We Team VHack is addressing this issue by creating an android app integrated with AR and ML technology which assists users with all the solar power generation data in the form of graphical representation on a seasonal basis. The user will be able to compare the solar power generation data with its general power system, so he can decisive about solar!
How we built it
- We used Android Studio in developing the front-end and back-end part of our application.
- Front end part is solely built on XML files whereas Backend part is built on Java. The major portion of the static data is been saved on Realtime Firebase from where we have sent multiple requests to fetch various data parameters.
- Moreover we used bundles, intents, and Google Console API to showcase Google Maps where we have fetched the user's location to analyze the user's climatic and solar conditions.
- Furthermore, we have used UNITY for implementing 3D assets of solar panels for better and clearer visualization for optimal angles.
- For the Machine Learning Algorithm, we have created our own data sets from NASA's various data parameters and then we have implemented Multiple Linear Regression in our algorithm.

What we learned
Developing Vidyut was an educational journey that enlightened us on solar energy nuances, the fusion of AR and ML technologies, prioritizing user-friendly design, the synergy between solar energy and sustainable agriculture, overcoming technical challenges, and the profound impact of technology in fostering environmental change.
What's next for Vidyut
Feature Enrichment: We aim to expand the app's capabilities, introducing more detailed insights into solar energy patterns, incorporating user feedback to enhance the AR experience, and refining the ML algorithm for better precision.
Partnerships and Outreach: Collaborating with organizations, solar energy experts, and agricultural specialists to broaden the app's knowledge base and provide a more comprehensive resource for users.
