Inspiration Engineering students often find themselves lost amid academic pressure, lack of proper guidance, and scattered resources. We’ve all been there — scrambling for PYQs, notes, or reliable advice just days before exams. This gap between what students need and what’s available inspired us to build Vidyasathi — a platform where seniors can guide juniors, providing them with the resources and mentorship we always wished we had.
What It Does Vidyasathi is an all-in-one platform designed to empower engineering students by offering: Curated study materials: PYQs, topper notes, and lecture links
- Personalized mentorship from seniors and moderators
- AI-powered virtual mentor "Veronica" for 24/7 academic support, productivity tips, and resource recommendations
- Project ideas, roadmaps, and resume-building tools
- A community hub for sharing updates on hackathons, internships, and tech events
- A secure dashboard tailored for Students, Seniors, Moderators, and Admins
- Essentially, it bridges the gap between academic struggles and practical solutions, making engineering survivable — and even enjoyable.
How We Built It We focused on creating a scalable, user-friendly, and secure solution:
- Frontend: HTML, CSS (TailwindCSS), JavaScript
- Backend: PHP with MySQL for managing different user roles and content
- AI Integration:
- Implemented our AI mentor "Veronica" using [AI API/service used] to deliver real-time guidance and personalized recommendations
- Authentication: Session-based login with role-specific dashboards (Students, Seniors, Moderators, Admins)
- UI/UX: Indian-themed design with clean layouts, responsive across devices, and AOS animations for a smooth experience
- Hosting: Developed on localhost for rapid development and testing
Challenges We Ran Into
- Designing an efficient database schema to handle multi-role permissions, uploads, and content management
- Seamlessly integrating AI without compromising performance or overwhelming users
- Ensuring secure authentication without relying on third-party services
- Balancing feature prioritization with hackathon deadlines — choosing what truly adds value over "nice-to-have" features
- Building a responsive UI that adapts across devices with limited testing environments
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of -Successfully integrated "Veronica", giving students round-the-clock AI-powered academic support -Built a multi-role platform that’s not just functional but also emotionally resonates with students’ struggles -Created a clean, modern, and responsive UI that reflects our vision -Developed core features like PYQ sharing, mentorship modules, and project/resource management within the hackathon timeframe -Fostered a platform that empowers students while encouraging community-driven growth
What We Learned
- The importance of empathetic design — building something that truly addresses real student pain points
- Implementing secure role-based access control for a multi-user environment
- Balancing AI integration with meaningful use cases to avoid feature bloat
- The power of community collaboration — seniors can significantly reduce academic stress for juniors when given the right tools
- Optimizing workflows and prioritizing features under tight deadlines
What’s Next for Vidyasathi We’re just getting started! Upcoming features and improvements include:
- Expanding AI capabilities for Veronica (personalized study plans, assignment help, resume analysis)
- Implementing social login for easier onboarding
- Adding gamified elements (leaderboards, rewards) to encourage community participation
- Partnering with educational institutions to onboard more mentors and verified resources\
- Enhancing content moderation for a safe and supportive environment
- Migrating from localhost to cloud hosting for wider accessibility and scalability
- Introducing real-time chat and collaborative workspaces for students and mentors
Vidyasathi aims to be the go-to platform where engineering students feel supported, guided, and motivated — because every student deserves a mentor who’s been in their shoes.
