🚀 Vidyaa – Learning Made for the TikTok Generation

🌱 What Inspired Us

I’m a Grade 10 student, and I’ve been using Duolingo for over 4 years now. Without any tuition or extra prep, I consistently top my Spanish class, just by casually doing Duolingo every day.

That’s what inspired my dad and me:

"Why isn’t the rest of school this effortless and fun?"

We started brainstorming. What followed by days of research and reading on what makes Duolingo click. Chunking, Micro Learning, and Spaced repetitions. What if we took the same bite-sized, gamified learning model and applied it to school subjects, especially ones I and my classmates struggle with? That’s how Vidyaa was born.

It started as a way for me to dogfood my own learning, and has grown into a much larger vision.

🧠 What We Learned

Gamified micro-learning works incredibly well, especially for people with short attention spans. (I am the proof.)
Students don’t hate studying; they hate boring, one-size-fits-all methods.
AI + education = powerful combo. It can personalize, adapt, and accelerate mastery.
Building something for yourself first is the best way to make sure it works.

🛠️ How We Built It

We started with subjects I study in school, like English, Maths, Physics, etc for IGCSE Class 9 & 10. We broke down chapters into bite-sized lessons, and used AI to generate:

Subjects, Sections and Units with bite-sized courses for learning
Smart, spaced quizzes
Active recall challenges
Personalized learning journeys

We used:

React Native for a sleek mobile-first UI
Supabase and Node.js backend
Perplexity & ChatGPT to generate curriculum-aligned content and auto-grade quiz responses
A tutor marketplace for students needing 1:1 help from subject experts

Everything was tested and refined using my real class curriculum. I was the first user and critic.

Making content engaging and academically rigorous at the same time
Building adaptive quizzes that stay relevant as a student progresses
Ensuring AI-generated content was accurate and curriculum-mapped
Designing a product that works equally well for me, my peers, and makes parents happy

We plan to launch Vidyaa with these subjects, and bring on more students who deserve better, smarter learning.
