Inspiration
We found it harder to focus with e-learning and lecturers have also previously voiced out finding it harder to gauge student engagement with online learning.
What it does
Runs computer vision on student's videos to let lecturers know in real time if they students are becoming disengaged or confused
How we built it
We used an existing model to detect expressions from video data and integrated that model with the cloud and a frontend dashboard.
Challenges we ran into
Communication between the model and the front end was difficult

Real time feedback can be seen of how many people are confused in a lecture

Learned more about how computer vision and tensorflow works.
What's next for Video Analytics platform to measure student engagement
Creation of a post lecture analysis to allow lecturers to know what parts of their lectures they need to spend more time on.
