Build Cinephile project for cinephile
All movie buffs have video cassettes or DVDs in a dusty corner of their garage or attic that they don't want to rid of. These are sentimental for them or quite simply cult films. And not far away you can see the VCR and DVD player. Is this your case? It's mine and anyone over 40. Those people can save place, money and time with Vid30 and Chainlink.
Holder are people who already have movies they bought or someone gave them. These films can be in good condition or deteriorated but what matters is that they were original (no copy, Divx, ...)
What it does
Vid30 will store physical video tapes and DVDs for our "Holders". With Chainlink's Oracle* * we make sure that our Holders really have the movies. We will digitize and load them into our Holder's NAS, internet provider server's or mediacenter so they can access from anywhere. Vid30 will be a free SVOD plateform for the Holder with the best on both web2 and web3. Vid30 will help cinephiles (Holders) to **save place by storing there movies in a warehouse, save time by giving them access to the SVOD plateform and save money by not paying to watch a movie they ever have. They can also earn money. Holders:
- They will have their video library in NFT which they can sell on Vid30 marketplace and the new Holder will have the movies and perks that come with the NFT.
- Can also buy and sell movies on the marketplace.
- Storing there movies, and also more Data (Dapps, content for Theta Network, ... )
How we built it. Ocean's Eleven
Frugal innovation. We don't need powerfull data center because the solution of decentralisation and pear 2 pear. One server for advertising and the Vid30 web2 plateform. (A vercel landingpage nowaday), Oracle smart contract to mint for Holders movies.(On backend) Vid30 plateform with C++ for french internet provider and smart TV. (Beta Underconstruction) Chainlink and NextJS for the Vid30 device. (We have to work together for providing the best solution) Marketplace, Dapps, ... . (frontend in NextJS)
Challenges we ran into. Money Ball
We had to test and verify our assumptions with holders and lawyers. "You probably have the same thought as all the lawyers and film professionals we spoke to!" Do you think we need licenses or permissions to upload these movies! We will store films (physical material) and our activity is based on the law of private copying. Our holders have their own copy in their device in their house and they also paid a copy tax when they bought their hard drive. From the beginning to today, the Vid30 project had to pivot to not to be outlaw. "That thinking outside the box!" I will make a team with this mindset! I'm a web developper and first time I try to work on web3. But I have several issue for deploying NextJS on Netlify. I will try to deploy on vid30.fr .
Accomplishments that we're proud of are jugaad innovation mindset.
I had to discuss with some french lawyer spécialise on "intellectuel property" and had to pivot to find the correct and perfect frugal project. Doing more with less: Use 10 times less resources than Netflix, Prime or Disney and allow people to be entertained in the same way. Smart innovation (the secret sauce): Don't need any licence or autorization to upload any movie. Inclusive: Being Holders, peoples in need can take this service for an interresting income. Green: Thanks to a community of Holder to avoid hosting on a Data center. And the cherry on the cake. We will use internet providers Server/mediaplayer like a NAS to host movies and all decentralize data.
All this make the project a Jugaad innovation but movies have to be load on the Holders device and we have to work with Chainlink to make that possible and then nobody can stop us.
What we learned. Basher on Oceans 11
I discuss with some person similar at my Holder persona and talk to them to learn and validate my hypothesis or pivot. I have learn a lot and discover some tools even for my project. Chainlink is a good is the partner who can help Vid30 to shine quickly. I'm also bootstrapping and will start looking for VC after the hackathon and the way Chainlink and I can collaborate. How to quickly search and build a beta demo for a Hackathon. Thanks Chainlink for all the Tutorial.
What's next for Vid30.
On the technical aspect, we will:
- Build the Beta plateform, dashboard (increase Holders) of the project with the help of Chainlink's team on backend
- Build the plateform for internet providers device and Andoid Start TV. Other aspect: Get a team focus on Vid30's value "Thinking outside the box and bring solutions" Have a lawyer specializing in "Intellectual Property/Copyright" as a co-founder or hire one Build community and start launching Vid30 in 1 year: Continue to increase the holders and test new features such as movie sharing, which is a premise before Premium (law and technique). Less than 5 years. Growth enought that the Mouse, Big N, the Mount and the delivery person with smile know VID30.
