Inspiration
For complicated software, you can enter it into AI, and it can make it. But for hardware, there is no one-stop solution to turn your idea from plain English a working prototype on a breadboard.
What it does
Imagine Claude Code for hardware that runs simulations to make sure the circuit works and gives you specific LEGO-like instructions to build by hand.
How we built it
We utilized Oh-my-pi, an agent harness, an Arduino and some basic electrical components for testing. React, Typescript, Material UI, Arduino, Breadboard, electrical components, SQL.
Challenges we ran into
Debugging the code. Getting things to work. Flashing to the hardware since AI can't really troubleshoot that part. Getting clear instructions to AI. AI too slow. It also costs a lot of WashU money.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Vibread can successfully plan out complex circuits and produce easy-to-follow build steps that someone of any level could use to prototype hardware.
What we learned
The capabilities of AI to develop hardware-integrating applications.
What's next for ViBread
Use AR for giving real-time guidance when assembling the circuit on the breadboard.
