Inspiration

Just a few weeks ago, I was in Stockholm for an interview with Lovable. Fast forward a week, I got rejected and then found out my startup was about to close. It honestly felt like everything was crashing down at once.

Then the Bolt hackathon came along, and I have to say, it gave me the hope and motivation I needed. It really snapped me out of that whole self-pity spiral. Suddenly, I felt fired up again. I realized this could be my shot to build something big. Maybe even something that could actually change how people design apps.

As I started building, I kept seeing how most of vibe coding apps all looked the same. And as a design engineer, I know jumping into code too early totally kills your creativity. The same thing is happening with AI right now. Instead of shaping your design ideas, you find yourself fixing code.

What it does

Most AI tools lock you into coding your designs, but VibeViz flips the script. Now, anyone can craft stunning apps just by vibing with visuals, not code.

  1. It introduces a new way to interact with LLM by having a horizontal wizard to collect the necessary information.
  2. You either get inspired by style suggestions or you provide all assets and inspiration material.
  3. AI will generate images for you with your app goal and style taken into account.

How we built it

I vibe-coded multiple approaches. From an infinite canvas to a real-time voice agent using Eleven Labs. I used Bolt to create almost everything. I used Supabase as a backend and as a state source of truth. It uses Google's Gemini 2.5 and Imagen 4 image model.

Challenges we ran into

I didn't get Eleven Labs credits in time. I had to contact the support, so I dropped the real-time voice agent. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I used a simplified canvas instead of an infinite one.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I like the fact that VibeViz itself made me bolder in applying design ideas.

What we learned

It's very easy to go on feature creep with AI. I had to force myself to stick to the basics and make it work well.
