Inspiration
I’ve always believed music is more than playlists or algorithms, it’s personal, emotional, human. But I’m not a developer. I don’t write code. So when the idea for Vibemuse came to me, a way to match people with songs based on their current vibe, I knew it had to be built in a way that was fast, fun, and felt like magic. The challenge? I had no idea how to make it happen...yet.
What it does
Vibemuse is a mobile-first micro-app that asks you 4 quick questions, then instantly delivers 5 curated songs that match your mood. It pulls from a growing library of 1,000+ hand-picked tracks across decades and genres, each with working Spotify previews. Every quiz taken increases a live global counter, and fallback logic ensures no broken experiences, just great music, every time.
How we built it
I built Vibemuse in under 48 hours using Bolt, Supabase for backend + song data, and the Spotify Embed API. Every part of the UX was designed to feel joyful, from the animated quiz flow to the clean results. I wrote dynamic SQL queries to power personalized results, automated massive song uploads with verified links, and introduced fallback logic to handle edge cases, all without touching raw code.
Challenges we ran into
- Spotify preview links frequently broke, I had to learn how to detect, filter, and auto-replace them in real-time.
- Supabase table logic broke more than once, schema issues, null values, and broken lookups meant painful rebuilds.
- Bolt itself crashed multiple times, forcing me to rebuild large portions from scratch during the final 24 hours.
- And most importantly: I had to learn everything, from no-code database logic to embedding media, on the fly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Launched a fully working, mobile-optimized experience in under 2 days, solo, no code, and minimal to no bugs at submission.
- Curated a custom, clean, diverse library of 1,000+ Spotify songs across 5 decades, with real-time fallback support.
- Created a joyful user flow people love, 4 questions, 5 perfect songs, that makes people happy, and has been tried by more than 5k people so far.
- Designed a monetization-ready roadmap and live VibeCounter system, all production-ready.
What we learned
I learned that constraints create creativity. That no-code tools are powerful, but only when paired with relentless UX focus and iteration. That breaking things isn’t failure; it’s fuel. And that with the right mix of hustle, taste, and caffeine, you can build something people truly connect with in just 48 hours.
What's next for Vibemuse
I'm just getting started. Next up: Launching Vibe Pro & Vibe Premium with song-saving, sharing, and extended playlists Partnering with independent artists to surface undiscovered vibes Growing the song library with 500+ new tracks per week Launching as a standalone music discovery app that feels like therapy but sounds like a mixtape
