Inspiration
The meme "I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do my art and my writing..." and not the other way around. What does it look like to start employing robots to do work in our everyday lives so that we can be freed to do the parts that we enjoy more?
What it does
A simple cozy farm simulator game (think Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley) Also: A detailed WebMCP inspector built into the game to give a transparent view to tool-calling under the hood.
How we built it
GPT 5.6 in Github Copilot, deployed on Github Pages, using 98.css for a retro feel that gives lots of popup explorable dialogs to have deeper insights into the WebMCP protocol and understand it on a more fundamental level.
Challenges we ran into
Getting good artwork was a challenge. Eventually found the public domain Kenney set of artworks (TinyFarm, TinyTown, TinyDungeon) and was able to use that to cobble together enough assets for a complete-ish game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Really happy with the debug view into WebMCP and being able to inspect and see what the LLM sees, and how it looks at the world. Also happy that the human player and robot player controls go through the same basic interface. The only thing that matters is their source (keyboard or tool-call) -- but otherwise they're on an equal playing field.
What we learned
That there is a LOT that goes into a full / fun game. It's just a basic shell of a game, and there is not yet enough fun stuff to do.
Also learned that balancing the right number of tool calls for WebMCP is a tricky thing, and there is a LOT of tinkering that one can do with making a sensible interface for agents and humans alike.
What's next for VibeFarmer
Expand the simulator, add more things to do -- especially more time-consuming but fun activities (exploration, decoration, etc) and give a rich environment for collaborating on things that make sense to delegate to the agentic AI, and things that make sense to do yourself.
