Why I Built This I used to think good work spoke for itself - until I watched colleagues who weren't necessarily better at their jobs advance faster than expected. It made me realize something: the difference wasn't just their work quality. They knew how to talk about their work in a way that actually mattered to decision-makers.

I spent countless hours researching career advice, talking to coaches, paying CV tools that only polished existing content without solving the real problem : figuring out what stories are worth telling in the first place to reach your target roles

Most CV tools assume you know what to highlight, but career coaches cost $200+ per hour for basic insights that should be accessible to everyone. I built VibeCV to democratize career discovery through conversation, helping people uncover and articulate the value they already bring - just more clearly

I'm not trying to replace words with AI-generated fluff. I'm trying to help figure out which of the experiences actually matter and how to talk about them authentically.

Why This Matters to Me

I want to start with CV, but my aim is to make the whole career management journey easy (like a personal work OS) - brag documents, visibility tactics, narratives and so on...but first starting with CV!

What it does

Voice-Led Career Discovery: VibeCV uses conversational AI (powered by ElevenLabs) to guide users through a voice-first experience - just talk, and it listens, analyzes, and builds.

Ask the Right Questions: Instead of guessing what to write, VibeCV asks the right, structured questions to uncover career wins, impact, and stories users often overlook.

Real-Time CV Building: As you speak, your answers are transformed into CV content in real time -displayed in a live side-by-side interface (also built with bolt) you can see evolve instantly.

Focused on the Most Overlooked Step: VibeCV doesn’t just format or polish, it’s built for the discovery phase, helping people figure out what to say before worrying how to say it.

How we built it

Started with user flow design outside Bolt.new to map the voice-to-CV conversion process. Built the frontend 100% using Bolt.new with iterative prompt refinement, uploading mockups/inspiration image to achieve the interface design. Integrated ElevenLabs API for voice processing and speech-to-text conversion, The architecture features real-time speech-to-text conversion, intelligent question sequencing algorithms, and dynamic CV generation as users speak. Used Netlify for deployment and testing, with API orchestration to synchronize voice input with dynamic content generation. The architecture handles concurrent voice processing and CV formatting to create seamless user experience

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was achieving truly natural conversation flow while maintaining structured career discovery. Balancing ElevenLabs' voice processing with real-time CV updates required careful API orchestration. We also struggled (a lot) with question sequencing - ensuring conversations felt organic while systematically uncovering all relevant career highlights. Creating the side-by-side interface that updates smoothly during voice input demanded multiple architecture iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created the only voice-first career discovery platform that serves as a prerequisite to all other career tools. Our 3x faster than typing claim is validated through limited user testing knowing the pain of endless rewrites to fit every job SEO, and the side-by-side interface creates an entirely new experience within the career development tools. You stay in one screen from start to end.

VibeCV is the missing first step before CV rewriting even begins. Early users report discovering career highlights they never would have included otherwise

What we learned

Career reflection/documentation is hard for everyone (be it student, gig workers, professionals) - even successful professionals often struggle to express their impact or promote themselves confidently. It was a challenge to decide on the target user persona given all have different needs, but I scope down to professionals to start.

The real value lies in enabling each individuals to identify their professional worth, enhancing their CV (is one tangible output), improving interview performance (is another), and being intentional in career management (the future of VibeCV).

*VibeCV listens to how you speak - your excitement, pauses, and doubts - and responds with deeper questions or encouragement. * It turns resume-building from a dry task into a meaningful, voice-driven conversation guided by emotional intelligence. My vision is to democratize career coaching or (by extension career mgmt) and make meaningful career discovery accessible to everyone through conversational AI.
