Inspiration

Modern video advertising faces a critical challenge: viewers are overwhelmed by irrelevant ads that disrupt their experience, while brands struggle to connect with audiences at emotionally resonant moments. Current targeting solutions based on demographics or keywords are blunt instruments that fail to capture emotional engagement, and ad placement systems insert ads at arbitrary points rather than when viewers are most receptive.

What it does

VibePoint revolutionizes video advertising through emotional and contextual intelligence. Our platform uses a dual-agent system that combines emotional extraction (powered by 12Labs) with advanced GPT models to dynamically match ads to the most emotionally and contextually appropriate moments in video content.

The system:

  • Analyzes viewer reactions and emotional beats throughout videos
  • Categorizes content into moments (peak excitement, calm introspection, story climax, obstacles conquered, etc.)
  • Dynamically selects and places ads based on emotional context and viewer receptiveness
  • Predicts engagement metrics (click-through, rewind, share, comment) to optimize placement
  • Provides detailed analytics on ad performance, engagement, and viewer sentiment

How we built it

VibePoint's architecture consists of:

  1. Emotional Extraction Layer (12Labs): Detects emotional moments and viewer reactions throughout the video
  2. Segment Labeling Engine: Contextually tags moments using approximately a dozen algorithms to identify optimal ad placement opportunities
  3. AI-Powered Ad Matching: GPT models analyze emotional cues and content context to select the most appropriate ads
  4. Viewer Response Simulation: Predicts how viewers will react to different ads at specific moments, measuring emotional resonance, cognitive recall, and behavioral outcomes
  5. Analytics Dashboard: Provides real-time reporting and feedback loops for campaign optimization

Challenges we ran into

  • Achieving precision in emotional moment detection across diverse video styles (animation, documentary, film, user-generated content)
  • Balancing ad effectiveness with viewer experience to avoid disruption
  • Developing algorithms that ensure ads feel native to the video content—aligned in tone, timing, and intent
  • Creating a transparent, ethical recommendation system that provides clear reasoning behind every ad placement
