VHS Dreams

Inspiration

This year, due to the lockdown I've noticed that the artists in the music industry started to depend on VFX to make their music videos stand out. That's why I wanted to create a filter that can look like a music video simulation to the user. Moreover, I think such a filter would be exciting and fun to use as an Instagram Reel with all the new trends going around. This way everyone can create a fun, creative video in their home safely.

What it does

It's an immersive filter with person segmentation to add a unique color to the main person, which is accompanied by two smaller duplicates of the person in a negative color. There are a sum of 8 rectangles for the persons, the RGB shift/VHS look, transparent background, and for the grain. The transparent background with person segmentation scales up and down with an audio analyzer according to the sound.

How I built it

Built with Spark AR, Adobe Lightroom for the color Lut and Picsart for the background transparent image.

What I learned

Even in hard times like these creativity and inspiration can be found in every little thing, people have the ability to make the most out of things and brighten the day of others by providing a little fun.

What's next for VHS Dreams

I'd like to transform the shape of the thunderbolt to other geometric or abstract shapes with an audio analyzer.
