Inspiration Phishing works because people are rushed, distracted, and given vague warnings too late. We wanted security to feel visible before the user clicks. What it does Veyra scans Gmail, websites, documents, and downloads for phishing risk. It shows risk bars, evidence, AI/ML scores, and clear advice. How we built it We built a Chrome extension with Gmail DOM scanning, website gating, local ML models, ChatGPT topic comparison, and explainable risk reports. Challenges we ran into Gmail DOM extraction was brittle, inbox previews lacked full email bodies, and API keys needed safe local handling without exposing secrets. Accomplishments that we're proud of We built Gmail risk bars, full email scan reports, a retro website gate, local ML scoring, and subject-body mismatch detection. What we learned Security UX needs clarity, not fear. Users trust warnings more when they can see the exact evidence behind the score. What's next for Veyra Add Gmail API OAuth, stronger datasets, attachment sandboxing, reputation feeds, better testing, and a production-safe backend for AI calls.
