VesselVault: A Revolution in Blood Management
Inspiration
The spark that ignited VesselVault was a personal crisis. A family member required B-ve blood urgently, but no blood bank could assist us. In desperation, we resorted to social media to find a donor. Sadly, this is the reality for many, particularly the poor, regardless of their blood type. Stories of blood being traded for money, despite it being donated for free, underscored the urgent need for a fair, transparent blood management system. Thus, VesselVault was born.
What We Learned
While developing VesselVault, we delved into the power and potential of Theta, a blockchain designed for decentralized, media-rich applications. This exploration broadened our understanding of blockchain's capabilities and its ability to drive change, highlighting how this innovative technology can foster transparency and fairness.
How We Built It
VesselVault was built on the Theta Network. Our first step involved integrating guardian organizations, such as hospitals or the Nepal Red Cross, into our system. These guardians run blood donation campaigns, which are logged transparently onto our blockchain. Donors are then rewarded with social tokens, which provide a range of benefits, from voting rights to medical discounts.
Challenges We Faced
Creating VesselVault was not without its challenges. We're still grappling with the tokenomics of our system - determining the most equitable way to distribute our social tokens and how to balance incentivizing donors while maintaining the integrity and value of the tokens. We're also striving to ensure that our system functions seamlessly across various organizations, each with its unique operations and procedures.
In Conclusion
Despite these challenges, our journey with VesselVault continues. We're committed to refining and evolving our system, firmly believing in our mission to create a fairer, more accessible healthcare landscape.
