Vessels VR is a virtual reality application that takes a user on a virtual tour of the veins and arteries and explores blood flow at a cellular level. The journey through the human body is guided and narrated by a friendly robot named PAL (Personal Assistant for Learning).
Vessels VR intends to deliver Ontario Science Curriculum based content about the circulatory system in a fun and engaging way by putting the student right inside of their own anatomy. It is a new kind of educational narrative that is sure to leave an impression on any user.
Development for Vessels launched as a University thesis project at the RTA School of Media at Ryerson University. The goal of the project was to design an educational narrative for an entirely new platform (the Oculus Rift) and test the effectiveness of that content by delivering it to elementary school students. The project was successfully funded on December 19 with the help of the Faculty of Communications and Design at Ryerson University, the President office of research and innovation and a Kickstarter Campaign. Vessels was also incubated at Ryerson's Transmedia Zone.
